Jackson Hole, Wyoming Women's Ski Retreat

The Retreat Co runs a women's ski retreat in Jackson Hole each season with skiing and snowboarding, dinner on the town, local female business owner guest speaker, yoga, and a curated town experience.

Jackson Hole is the kind of place skiers talk about with a little reverence. The legendary Aerial Tram climbs 4,139 vertical feet in under 10 minutes. There are waffles at Corbet’s Cabin, elk antler arches around the town square, and a Wild West energy that’s equal parts cowboy bar and world class terrain. Add in a private dinner out on the town, a guest speaker from a local female business owner, and a nightcap at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, and you’ve got a retreat that’s as much about the town as it is about the mountain. Once you’ve skied it, you’ll understand why it’s on every serious skier’s list.

How Jackson Hole Compares

If Vail and Park City are the polished resort town versions of skiing, and Sun Valley is the quiet, old school one, Jackson Hole is the wild one. It’s the one people book because they want to say they skied it.

It has some of the most storied terrain in the country. Corbet’s Couloir is basically a rite of passage, even just to look at. It also has one of the biggest continuous vertical drops in the U.S. and a town that still feels like a real Wyoming town instead of a manufactured alpine village.

It’s got the bragging rights of a bucket list resort with the community feel of a place people actually live. If you want a ski trip that comes with a bit of edge and a lot of stories to tell afterward, this is it.

The Mountain: What to Expect on Skis

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is known for big, serious terrain, and it earns that reputation. The Aerial Tram (“Big Red”) whisks skiers up 4,139 vertical feet to the 10,450 foot summit of Rendezvous Mountain in about nine minutes, one of the largest continuous lift served vertical rises in the country. At the top, the view is a 360 degree wall of the Tetons and the valley below, and yes, you should absolutely get a waffle at Corbet’s Cabin before you drop in.

Jackson Hole has a reputation for expert only terrain, but it’s more welcoming than people expect. Beginners and intermediates have real options around the Teewinot and Eagle’s Rest lifts and the Sweetwater Gondola, plus dedicated terrain like Antelope Flats.

Our retreat guests typically ski intermediate and advanced runs, and on mountain lessons are available for anyone looking to level up. Full rental shops are available at the base.

The Town: Jackson Is the Après Scene

Our retreat stays at the Mountain Modern Motel, right on the historic Jackson Town Square, walkable to restaurants, shops, and the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. (Yes, the saddles at the bar are real seats, and yes, you should sit in one.) The hotel itself has a hot tub and an onsite social hub, the Triple M, for hanging out between activities.

(Don’t skip the Mangy Moose. Home base après for Teton Village, and exactly the kind of loud, lively, boots still on energy a ski day deserves.)

Jackson has a surprising range for a small mountain town. Elk antler arches around the square, art galleries, a genuinely great food scene, and a cowboy culture that’s real rather than costume. It’s also a short drive from Grand Teton National Park, so the scenery does a lot of the work for you.

Our retreat includes a dinner out on the town, a guest speaker from a local female business owner, and a creative workshop, so guests get more than just ski days. The whole trip is built around a mix of adventure and connection.

The Culture: More Than a Ski Trip

Big Terrain, Bigger Stories

Corbet’s Couloir, only accessible via the tram, is one of the most famous and feared runs in North America, a near vertical drop that’s become a rite of passage for expert skiers. You don’t have to ski it to appreciate that it’s right there.

COMMUNITY

Our guest speaker segment features a local female business owner, giving guests a real window into what it’s like to build something in a mountain town like Jackson. Combined with the yoga session and creative workshop, the retreat leans into connection as much as it does skiing, with local voices woven into the weekend rather than imported experiences.

FOOD

Downtown Jackson has an excellent restaurant scene for a town this size, and our retreat’s dinner out on the town lets guests experience it together rather than scattering off on their own. Snacks, après, and a few surprises along the way keep the group fueled between ski days.

Logistics: getting there and around

Fly into Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), aiming for a flight that arrives no later than 3:00 PM on the first day. You can rent a car or take a taxi or rideshare to the Mountain Modern Motel, which is walkable to the town square.

You won’t need a car during the retreat itself, since we use the hotel’s shuttle to and from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

“Aside from the skiing, one of the biggest benefits of doing something like this is meeting other women you might ski with later in the season or next year. That part is wonderful. What stood out most was your effort to make sure we were investing in the local community. We were supporting women entrepreneurs, meeting incredible business owners, doing yoga, and connecting with women who were building lives around what they were passionate about.”

Hear from women who've been

“It’s nice to ski with people who are there for the same kind of experience. I also love that it’s women empowering other women. You are always finding women who have created something interesting and are doing something badass, whether it’s photography, food, art, business, or something else.”

“The retreat reminded me to push the envelope a little bit. To be adventurous. To do things I really want to do and find ways around obstacles. Going on the trip itself felt like a small obstacle at first... But I would absolutely go by myself next time if that's how it worked out. The retreat reminded me to move obstacles out of the way so I can continue doing things I enjoy.”
